The Code Enforcement Officer and Patrol Officers respond to calls for service involving animal control issues.  The GSPD will respond to calls involving dogs running at large, vicious dogs, and barking dogs.  Cats are free-roaming animals, and are not considered to ever be "running at large." 

During summer months, officers also routinely respond to and assist the Colorado Division of Wildlife with calls involving bears.

What if your dog has been impounded?
  1. Dogs are kept at the CARE Unit, however, you must first contact GSPD prior to having your dog released.
  2. There will be no animal(s) released during the weekend.
  3. Animals will only be released Mon - Fri, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., by contacting GSPD front desk personnel at (970) 384-6500, excluding Holidays.
  4. Fees and vaccinations are required.
         -Quarantine: $25.00
         -Impound Fees: $25.00 first offense, $50.00 second, $100.00 after
         -Kennel Fees: $20.00 for dogs, $15.00 for cats
         -City License: $5.00 altered animal, $15.00 non-altered
