  Recruitment

The Police Department has the following openings:

Police Officer

The Glenwood Springs Police Department will be holding a testing process for the position of Police Officer. Current certification as a sworn Officer in Colorado is not a requirement for testing, but is a consideration in all hiring decisions. The Department does have a trainee program in which a candidate may be considered for sponsorship through a Colorado Law Enforcement Training Academy.

Accurately completed applications must be received by August 10th, 2011 at 1700 hours to participate in testing. Pre-screening of applications may result in disallowing testing.

The schedule for the testing process is as follows:

August 17th      0800 - Check in at GSPD      0830- Written Test     1130 - Physical Agility           1330 - 3 on 1 Interviews

August 18th     0800 - Oral Board Interviews & Pre-Psychological Forms

August 19th      0800 - Initial Background Paperwork and Pre-offer Psych Interviews

August 20th     TBD – Post-offer Psychological Testing and Interviews

Our schedule tries to prioritize out of town applicants to conduct as much testing as practical to limit the need for return visits. Schedules and processes may flex to allow for this need. Each step in this testing phase is an elimination phase, so candidates need to be prepared to stay for the duration of testing if they succeed at each phase. No individual phases will be performed at a later date to accommodate schedule issues.

Polygraph examinations if not completed, Chiefs interviews and background investigation processes will be scheduled with successful candidates at a later time.

The Physical Agility test is demanding and requires clothing appropriate for physical exercise, running and contact with the ground, whatever weather conditions exist. Please contact Carol Davis at the Department to confirm your intention to participate in the testing process.

We look forward to seeing you,

Terry Wilson
Chief of Police
